As part of final preparations for the highly anticipated Groundbreaking Ceremony for the 184-hectare Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone in Gombe State, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives, Dr. Barnabas M. Malle, alongside the State Project Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project, Professor Usman Bello Abubakar, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, conducted a site inspection to assess the level of readiness.
The Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone, which will feature an Ultramodern Abattoir, an International Livestock Market, an International Grains Market, and a Dry Inland Port, is scheduled for official groundbreaking on Saturday, 14th June 2025, at the project site along Bajoga Road, Gombe.
Speaking during the visit, Professor U. B. Abubakar stated that the inspection aimed to evaluate the progress of ongoing site preparations and ensure the area is fully ready to host the historic event.
He emphasized that the visit reflects the commitment of both the L-PRES Project and the Gombe State Government to the successful execution of this landmark initiative.
The delegation inspected critical components including the clearing of access roads, security and safety arrangements, and the specific area designated for the groundbreaking ceremony.
Expressing satisfaction with the pace of work, Commissioner Malle commended the level of progress made and encouraged the contractors to expedite the remaining work to allow for smooth coordination of the event.
On behalf of Triacta Nigeria Ltd, the company handling the access road project, the Site Engineer assured the team that the road would be completed and made motorable before the scheduled date.
He reiterated the company’s readiness to meet the deadline with high-quality delivery.
Also present at the inspection were representatives from Lubell Nigeria Ltd, the contractors in charge of constructing the Ultramodern Abattoir. The company has been actively engaged in the preparations and providing technical support to ensure the smooth conduct of the ceremony.
The Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone stands as one of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s legacy projects, implemented in partnership with the L-PRES Project. It is expected to significantly transform the livestock and agricultural trade landscape of Gombe State, firmly establishing it as a major hub for agro-industrial development in Nigeria.
