Gombe L-PRES Coordinator Pays Courtesy Visit To Akko LGA.
…..Promises More Interventions For Rural Communities.
14 July, 2024
The Coordinator Gombe State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) Professor Usman Bello Abubakar has paid a courtesy call on the Chairman Akko LGA. Hon. Muhammad Danladi Adamu to sensitize the management staff of the LGA on the activities of the Project and solicit their support for the actualization of the Project Development Objectives (PDO)
The Project Coordinator said the L-PRES Project team was at the local government to formally handover the Kumo main slaughter slab renovated by the Project to the beneficiaries following its completion and commended the Local Government Council for their support in the course of the renovation.
He added that, apart from the slaughter slap in Kumo the L-PRES Project has also constructed a solar powered borehole with two overhead tanks and a watering trough for the livestock at Tafare community in Kumo West.
He said the intervention became necessary after a need assessment was conducted which revealed a dire situation of acute water scarcity in the community where residents had to trek several kilometers under difficult terrain to access water for drinking and other household needs while their livestock also faced the same challenge of moving long distances due to lack of streams and water ponds in the area.
In his remarks, the Chairman Honourable Muhammad Danladi Adamu expressed appreciation for the visit and described the intervention as timely.
Hon Danladi commended the state Governor Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya for introducing such a project that has great potentials to improve the living condition of people in rural areas particularly livestock farmers.
The Chairman then pleaded with the Project Coordinator to consider putting more projects in hard to reach areas to make life more easier for the less privileged.
