The Gombe Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has carried out a comprehensive health assessment on the newly born calf from its landmark Artificial Insemination (AI) programme, marking another significant step in the state\u2019s livestock transformation initiative.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
A technical team from the project visited the calf at Bozon Shilwa in Dukku Local Government Area to evaluate its health status and collect baseline data that will serve as a benchmark for tracking future growth and productivity.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
The evaluation confirms that the calf is healthy and within optimal growth indicators expected for high-yield AI-produced breeds.<\/div><\/div>
Speaking during the field assessment, Dr. Dauda Mishel and Malam Bukar Muhammad Gadam, who led the exercise, explained that the baseline data collected will guide subsequent monitoring and veterinary interventions.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
They said the parameters recorded demonstrate strong genetic and physical performance associated with the exotic breed used for the insemination.<\/div>

They noted that the health stability of the calf validates the success of the AI programme and further strengthens Gombe State\u2019s capacity to pioneer modern livestock reproduction technologies.<\/div>

\u201cThis is a positive indicator of what to expect in the coming weeks and months as more calves are born under this scheme,\u201d they observed. \u201cIt provides us the scientific benchmark for growth tracking and further veterinary support.”<\/div><\/div>
The State Coordination Office indicated that more calves are expected in the coming weeks as the insemination exercise expands, setting the foundation for high-yield milk production, stronger livestock genetics and a more commercially viable livestock value chain in Gombe State.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
