Concerned Citizens Lauded Gombe L-PRES Interventions, Seek Support for Dubbel Community in Funakaye<\/span><\/h4>

Recognizing the impactful interventions of the Gombe State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project, a coalition of concerned citizens, comprising representatives from civil society organizations, government institutions, and traditional leadership, paid a courtesy visit to the L-PRES State Office.<\/div>
\u00a0The group commended the project’s ongoing work and advocated for its support to the underserved Dubbel community in Funakaye Local Government Area.<\/span><\/div><\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
Speaking on behalf of the State Project Coordinator, Professor Usman Bello Abubakar, the Project Administrative Officer, Malam Umar Sambo, welcomed the delegation and appreciated their proactive engagement.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
He reiterated the project\u2019s commitment to improving livestock productivity, resilience, and the welfare of livestock farmers across Gombe State.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
\u201cWhile we operate based on an approved work plan focusing on livestock and selected value chains, the State Project Coordinator is always open to exploring opportunities that could enhance support to communities in need,\u201d Malam Umar stated.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
He went on to highlight some of the remarkable achievements recorded under the leadership of Professor Usman Bello Abubakar. These include the rehabilitation of abattoirs and slaughter slabs, upgrade of veterinary clinics and livestock markets, drilling of over 100 boreholes, and the rehabilitation of several earth dams to support livestock production.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
Also speaking during the interaction, the Project’s Social Safeguards Officer, Mrs. Mwalin Abdu, encouraged the visitors to formally submit a written request to the State Project Coordinator for possible assessment and appropriate action.<\/div>

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Abdul\u2019aziz Sani Labaran of Youth O\u2019Clock Nigeria, expressed appreciation for L-PRES interventions across the state and appealed for urgent support for the Dubbel community.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
\u201cRecognizing the impactful work of L-PRES, we found it necessary to seek your intervention. The people of Dubbel\u2014primarily farmers and herders\u2014are deprived of basic amenities, with little or no visible government presence. We believe L-PRES can bring a positive turnaround,\u201d Labaran noted.<\/div>

In his remarks, the District Head of Jillahi, Malam Muhammad Bello, appreciated the L-PRES team for the warm reception and reaffirmed his community\u2019s readiness to collaborate with the project in line with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya\u2019s inclusive rural development agenda.<\/div>

Other members of the visiting team included Gayus Musa of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Umar Yahaya Zakari of Jewel Environmental Initiative, Bello Adamu, a respected community leader, and Alkasim A. Jidda from the Ministry of Water, Environment and Forest Resources.<\/div>
