…. AS PROFILING OF LIVESTOCK VALUE CHAIN ACTORS BEGINS.<\/h2>

Gombe State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) has conducted a one day training for enumerators across the eleven local government areas of state in preparation for the commencement of profiling of value chain actors in the livestock sector in the state.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
Briefing the trainees at the Conference Hall of Gombe State Fadama Project, the State Coordinator of the Project, Professor Usman Bello Abubakar highlighted the need for the enumerators to ensure high standard of honesty and transparency in the discharge of their responsibilities by capturing accurate, authentic and reliable data that will stand the taste of time.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
Professor Abubakar said, “we are providing this training for you to go back to your various communities so that you can enumerate value chain actors in your local government areas and the condition attached to it, is do not segregate or discriminate any person based on status, tribe, religion, gender or whatsoever”.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
He explained that value chain actors in the livestock sector include producers, processors, marketers and transporters or any other person engaged in an activity related to livestock.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
“The target beneficiaries in the exercise should not be captured randomly but in their respective places of businesses so as to ensure accurate data. He hinted that once the data is captured it goes directly from the community to the L-PRES national database where it will be seen instantly”, he added.<\/div><\/div>
He said the essence of the profiling is to develop a depository that will contain relevant data on livestock value chain operators in the state, that will provide information on their specific needs and challenges for the purpose of various interventions the project is planning to embark towards transforming the sector into a more viable and profitable industry.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div><\/div>
Professor Abubakar warned that, the project will not condone negligence or lapses from them and said supervisors have also been assigned to monitor the exercise and assist them where necessary and advised them to contact their supervisors immediately in the face of any challenge or need for clarification during the exercise.<\/div>

The L-PRES Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Linda Sukar also made a brief presentation on the objectives of the training and provided an overview of the livestock value chain while the ICT officer Abubakar Ahmed took the enumerators on the processes involved in the profiling exercise.<\/div>
